Ferry to the Working Farm

We got on a ferry to drive out to a historic, working farm called Chippokes Plantation.

The view back to the replica boats at Jamestown Settlement. (The ferry was much larger!)

A view from the ferry of Historic Jamestown (the park at the site of the real Jamestown settlement).

Lots of cotton

We visited Chippokes Plantation. It's directly across the James River from the first English settlement and it has been continually farmed since 1619.

An old building at the plantation.

We found some nicely preserved, old tractors on display. This one is one of only two of its kind remaining.

This 0ne was a steam-driven tractor.

Caleb hamming it up at the saw mill. (The blade wasn't spinning, and it had a protective covering over the teeth.)

This is how the GPS looked as we approached the ferry. Made it look like we were just supposed to drive across the James River.
