Birthday week for Caleb & Karis

We celebrated Caleb's & Karis' birthdays tonight and had some fun!

Happy birthday!!!

 Karis had a bit of trouble with her last candle.

She finally got it!

I love to watch Karis' expressions when opening gifts.

Ahh, he got a pair of socks returned that he left at a friend's house.
Caleb actually got a very fun toy this year. I'll try to take some pictures soon!

A spin at the park

The weather has been so nice lately.  It's perfect for taking a spin at the park.

Eye check

We all went in for our regular eye exams today.  This was Karis' first visit and she enjoyed the part where she had to cover up one eye and tell the doctor what pictures she could see.

 

She did great.

Use your forehead

What started as Karis just putting some laminated letters in order

turned into lots of fun

once Karis realized that the cards stick to your forehead. 

When will I be in charge?

Recently I was getting ready to leave for a meeting and was making it clear what they had to do and who was in charge while I was gone.  Well, Karis followed me and said in her cute 3-year old voice,

K:  "When do I get to be in charge?"  

Me:  "Maybe when you are about 12."

K:  "Well, when I have kids I'll be in charge."

A couple days later, she started talking about being in charge.

K:  "When I have kids, I'm going to be in charge."

Me:  "Yep, you're right.  What will you tell your kids to do?"

K:  "Stay out of the lipgloss!"

The Plate Trick

Caleb taught Karis a new trick before dinner.

Nutcracker

Karis really enjoyed watching the Nutcracker on tv. She danced and twirled right along with them.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving?

It sure doesn't feel like it!

A friend for Belle

Karis wanted Belle to have some company.

Roshay

The older girls have been doing a lot of crochet lately.

 Karis likes to roshay (crochet) too and is doing what she can to keep up!  She says she is making a toy for her doll and for the cat.

Teeth Cleaning

 

We all got our teeth cleaned this month, but this was Karis' first time.  She did great and especially loved the big chair.

Bird feeder

We made little bird feeders this week.

 It was fun watching Karis hang them on our itty-bitty tree.

She even tried to hang one really close to the ground!

Three- year old Biblical scholars

We recently asked Karis what her new verse was for Sunday School. They

start a new verse every month and had just finished Genesis 1:1.

Instead of replying with a verse she informed us in her cute 3-year old voice, 

"We done wit the old

tessament. Now we on the new tessament." 

I didn't know they covered so

much material in the 3-year old Sunday School class!

Karis' Lava Lamp

Karis made a lava lamp this week.

We filled a water bottle with some vegetable oil, water and some food coloring.


Then we added some pieces of alka-seltzer tablets and watched it bubble.

Marble Track

Karis and Toby (friend) made a marble track during the older kids' homeschool group discussion time.  It was a quick and easy project.  They enjoyed moving it around and coming up with different ways to race the marbles.

My kids can't resist trying out all the tractors on display at the

home improvement store.

Karis is no exception.

Karis has been seen just picking up whatever and using it as a guitar to play to the music in the background.
