A Young Pilot

Caleb went to Joel's work to help him set a couple of things up in his office. While they were there, they stopped and looked at the mock-ups of the airplanes. Caleb's ready to own his own jet.

He came home and told me that there is a jet that would be just right for our family and wouldn't it be nice if we could use it to go on vacation!
(Too bad the jet's not within our budget!)

Yay me!

Potty training with Karis has actually been fun, well most of the time! I pretty much decided that we weren't going to do any potty training until we were done with a lot of our long driving trips this summer. However, I started to think that it would probably be a good idea to be done before school starts etc and changed my mind. One day while the big kids were at VBS, we "taught" a baby to go potty and so we were off and she has done well.

One day, when she made it to the potty we called Daddy at work to tell him. It has now become a pattern and a lot of times she wants to now call someone every time she goes. What's funny is that she says the same thing every time.

Not this clear, but this is what she says very excitedly:
"I went pee-pee on the potty. I got piece of bum (which means gum)." (short pause) "Come on." (She runs down the hallway with the phone and points the phone at the potty to "show" Daddy) "I flush it!"

Not looking forward to the many more potty stops we'll have to make this summer, but it'll be worth it!

Catching Up

I haven't posted for a while, but I am going to try to catch up today. If you read this on a reader, you'll have to go back and look for them as I'm going to try to date them when they happened.

Eliana has lost her second tooth. She came into the kitchen and said, "Mom, I just pulled out my tooth!"

Caleb wanted to make some baked oatmeal for breakfast, and he wanted to do it by himself. It was yummy too!

VBS Week

The kids had a great time at VBS this week.

They enjoyed the songs and got to sing some of them in church on Sunday too.

The older kids were having fun dressing up Karis one night. She loved the attention.

Our First Cukes!

We got to eat our first cucumber from the garden this week. Yummy!
We've also been enjoying our lettuce. The peas didn't do so well, so we'll have to try them again later.

Joanna's a Winner

Joanna entered a drawing at our local homeschool convention for a whole bunch of drawing stuff and she won. It was very exciting to see that big box come in the mail.

Getting Ready for Next Year

This month we also went to our local homeschool convention. It's always fun to look at all the curriculum and books!

I then headed up to KS City for some training for our homeschool group for next year. We stayed at a hotel with some other families and had a fun time. We had fun at the pool, going out to eat and getting caught in a downpour of rain. The kids also enjoyed their classes while I was at my sessions.

Father Daughter Breakfast

One of Joel's co-workers hosted a father-daughter breakfast at his family's ranch. There's nothing quite like pancakes, bacon, and OJ in the great outdoors. There was a frog-catchin' contest, too. Some of the girls caught quite a few of them.
