Making Christmas cookies

Every year we make lots of cookies to give the neighbors etc. This year the kids really got in to it. Especially painting all the sugar cookies. They couldn't wait to get them all painted to give to the neighbors.

what a neat idea to "paint" the cookies ...I like your "paint" holder.

What type of icing recipe do you use?

Looks like fun - for the past 3 yrs my kids along with a friends 4 kids have gotten together to have a "cookie decorating party". Everyone has a great time - and some beautiful cookies.

This is the recipe we use for icing.

You mix:

1 egg (or 1Tbsp meringue powder & 2addtl. Tbsp warm water)- I use the powder

3 cups powdered sugar

2-3 Tbsp water.

You need to keep it covered or it will dry out. The icing dries hard in 1-2 hours. The kids have a lot of fun with this. You can paint part of the cookie and let it harden and then paint over it with dots or different color.
